Our success in making the mold right for the first time brings our customers more rapidly into production.

Our experience and attention to detail ensure that you obtain a tool that over the life of the mold can hold up and produce parts consistently.

We succeed perfectly because we spend the time it takes to design and engineer an injection mold of the highest integrity and consistency level.

From the early days of manually operated machinery, Quest Industries has come a long way from lathes, milling machines, grinders, and hand tools such as files.

From the early days of manually operated machinery, Quest Industries has come a long way from lathes, milling machines, grinders, and hand tools such as files.

Our process today includes setting up and running a range of computer-controlled machine tools for the development of precision metal parts. From designs to blueprints and computer aided design and now to computer aided development files, we have graduated.

But the need for preparation, expertise, and experience in making a sophisticated plastic injection mold is not replaced by technological advances. In reality, our dependency on the new technology of today demands a higher-level skill set than the obsolete technology of years past. Most of the tool and die shops of yesterday have grown into the sophisticated specialty mold making businesses we see today. Our resources continue to be invested in the most sophisticated technologies available.

Making Plastic Injection Mold

Plan, precision machining, rough machining, steel preparation, fitting and mold sampling constitute a plastic injection mold project.
Designing the CAD

A tool never gets better than the initial engineering used to build the template, whether it is a plastic injection mold or a rubber mold.

Accessories and Mold Foundation

The mold base, bushings, pins and additional hardware are ordered until your design is finalized. Hot runner systems are becoming an increasingly important consideration in plastic injection molding, with lower scrap rates and faster cycle time, but hot runners can take longer to deliver.

The Rough Machining

As soon as the mold base arrives, rough machining commences. This method eliminates excess material, builds up the estimated size of the plastic injection mold, typically leaving 0.15 mm to 0.30 mm of steel to be precision machined.

Treatment with Sun

The rough-machined mold is then heat-treated after machining to alleviate tension, minimize corrosion, and increase the life of the instrument.

Machining for CNC Accuracy

In combination with Computer Assisted Design (CAD), computer numerical control (CNC) machining and then Computer Aided Machining technologies are used to build tools capable of maintaining close tolerances.

Hard Milling

For today’s mold makers, hard milling is an indispensable technique. In the hardened state, hard milling machines are components. This will remove secondary machining steps, EDM and hand polishing in many instances, saving time and money.

Quest Industries is an innovative, high-speed and high-performance hard milling specialist in the industry.

To get the job done, we have the equipment and the expertise.
